PA Waterfalls

Kick off your 2025 with a new adventure!

The feature of this trip is – you guessed it – waterfalls! Our first backpacking trip of the year will be a great next step for those who attended the Intro to Backpacking in past years. It’s a great weekend get-a-way for those with some backpacking and/or hiking experience.  Maybe you already hike, or like to camp or spend time out doors, and would like to take the next step with a group of fun, adventurous women. Use this trip to “dip your toes” into the world of backpacking, or as a stepping stone to something bigger!

This trip is dedicated to empowering women in the outdoors.

About the Trip

Located in Tioga State Forest, this backpacking route is an ~17 mile point-to-point trail primarily following Mid State Trail. This route features the haunted mine trail, interesting rock formations, and of course a few breathtaking waterfalls along the way. While there are some steep climbs and the occasional technical terrain, the overall elevation profile and trail will be well suited for those who are new to backpacking but have experience on trails. The 2,200 ft of elevation over over 2 days earns this trip the difficulty rating of “easy-moderate”.

Plan for an additional shuttle fee, details pending.

Check out the Naval Run and/or Golden Eagle Rucks to get yourself physically & mentally ready. Also, check out the “Greenhorn” discount on our packages page – created for beginners! It includes 2 rucks and 2 consultations to help you plan and prepare.

As with most Wild Roots guided backpacking trips, we will begin hiking early Saturday morning and plan to finish with enough time on Sunday to grab grub nearby! The post hike dinner is a great way to cap & commemorate your experience with others.
